Blue Flag: year, beach and meaning

Blue Flag is a FEE award, rather than a score given by our users.

Official lists identify a year and specific beach sections, so the municipality name alone is not enough.

We display the award only when its year and area match the entry.

FEE criteria cover several aspects, including environmental information, management, water and facilities.

An award applies to the named section, rather than the municipality’s whole coastline.

A beach without a documented award does not automatically receive a negative judgement.

Equally, an award does not replace checking notices and conditions on the day.

Visitors can consult the official list and compare its exact place name.

Blue Flag status does not change how reviews or rankings are calculated on this site.

The two types of information remain separate tools for making an informed choice.
